So what else did Apple update that it didnt feel like talking about in its update notes? I noticed quite a few undocumented changes while browsing the upates bom file (a file that lists all files installed by the installer in 10.5, youll find them in /Library - Receipts - boms). While Apple has occasionally had trouble with previous system updates, this one seems to be trouble-free, at least thus far. If theres a fundamental issue in 10.5.5, though, Ive yet to run across it.
Im certain, however, that someone out there has had issues with the updateits almost a certainty, given the huge number and variety of Macs out there. Ive upgraded four machines now, ranging from my aging-but-still-beloved 12-inch PowerBook G4 up to my Quad-core Mac Pro, and Ive yet to experience so much as a hiccup. In a word, my experience thus far could be best described as uneventfuland with something like an OS upgrade, thats a good thing. However, officially the developers claims that it is not officially compatible with OS X 10.11 El Capitan or above but in tests, it does seem to work on macOS 10.12 Sierra or above.įirst, for those sitting on the fence waiting for user reports, Im sure youd like to know how well OS X 10.5.5 works.
